Holiday season Joy with Christmas Crafts, Christmas Candles and Greeting Cards, how you can create the perfect Christmas experience

About Thanksgiving, people start thinking about getting ready for Christmas. But Christmas crafts usually comes to mind sooner than that. It is a good idea to start planning your craft ideas at least by the first of November so you will have all of the instructions and materials ready to go. Depending on the particular crafts, some will even have already been made. Simple Christmas crafts can wait to be completed, though.

Thanksgiving Day can be a great time to start making your decorations. After the big thanksgiving dinner is done and the dishes cleared away, friends and family can work on craft projects together. This is also a wonderful way to give the kids something to do. Over the course of the long Thanksgiving weekend, making crafts and other decorations will help the kids to keep from getting restless, especially if the weather is too bad to be outside much.

A great Christmas craft idea

While the adults are making more complicated things, such as Christmas wreathes, the kids can make snowmen from white crew socks filled with dried beans or rice. The toes of old, colored socks make great hats or just roll down the excess sock and giving it color with paint. Fabric puff paint, glitter and sequins are great for giving the snowmen faces and other decorative touches.

To make these snowmen, you will need the following items:

  • White, calf-length crew socks, 1 for each snowman
  • Strong white string to tie off the top and tie in the middle of the snowman
  • Dried beans or rice, 2 ½ cups for each snowman
  • Fabric puff paint, glitter paint and/or glitter glue
  • Sequins, buttons, ribbon, old colored socks for scarves and optional hats
  • Scissors and glue

To fill the socks, use a canning jar ring to help hold the sock open, put a funnel with a wide opening in the opening of the sock and pour 2 ½ cups of dried beans or rice into the sock. Next, tie the sock closed with strong, white string. You will want to tie it so that the beans or rice have too much room to shift around but not so compact that the snowman can’t be shaped right. Then fold the top of the sock down and shape it to look like a knit hat. Then let the kids have fun ‘dressing’ their snowmen up.These snowmen are such fun to make and are so cute! They make wonderful gifts as well as home Christmas decorations that will be cherished for years. This is one Christmas craft that even the grown-ups will love making. No two will be the same, guaranteed!

Making Christmas card ideas

Thanksgiving is not only a good time for Crafting decorations and gifts but also making a special Christmas card for each very special person in your life. Though you might want to use purchased greeting cards for most of your Christmas list, those you are closest to would love to get a hand-made Christmas card. They don’t need to be difficult to make to look elegant and cheerful. This is a great way to recycle cards you received in previous years and just couldn’t bring yourself to throw out.

Just a few simple things are needed to make these cards:

  • Card stock or scrapbooking paper in Christmas colors and other colors
  • Old greeting cards
  • Ribbon, paper lace doilies in white, gold and silver
  • Scissors (specialty edging scissors are great is you have them)
  • Glue
  • Ruler to help with folding and cutting straight edges
  • Glitter and sequins

With these supplies, you just need to use your imagination to create wonderful Christmas cards that will be treasured and proudly displayed. You may enjoy this so much you will want to do it every year and maybe even all year long.

When you begin receiving greeting cards in the mail, you always want to display them so all can enjoy them. A beautiful way to do this is to place Christmas candles along a mantelpiece and/or on a buffet, spaced a few inches apart. The candles can be of different sizes, shapes and colors, just like the cards will be different sizes, shapes and colors. As the cards arrive, stand them up between the candles so both candle and card can be seen and enjoyed.

Christmas candles can make everything very festive

Christmas Candles can be used in so many different ways to bring a warm glow to your home at Christmas time. They can be the focal point of beautiful centerpieces on your holiday table, used to frame your nativity display and set in a window sill to add even to the festive look of your home from outside. Many people use an Advent candle wreath to add to the meaning of the holiday. However you want to use candles for Christmas decorating, your choices in color, size and shape is quite vast. Many people love to use scented Christmas candles to add a wonderful fragrance to greet everyone who enters the home.

Some favored fragrances are:

  • Pine
  • Bayberry
  • Cinnamon
  • Peppermint
  • Cranberry

These wonderful scents can evoke great memories for those experiencing them. Some scents remind people of the wonderful baked Christmas food recipes from Christmases past. To help bring these special memories back to reality, you can make beautiful recipe cards that look festive to give as a small welcome gift to all the guests who enter your home during the holidays. Christmas food recipes on cards are another great and easy thing to add to your Christmas crafts list. With all the wonderful things you can do for yourself and others, you can make this Christmas the best ever for everyone you know.
